All that is well

Today I learned I will not be teaching in the NY public school system in the coming year. I guess things that were meant to be were meant to be. Everyone keeps telling me that the best is yet to come. I think I need time to think.

So what to do now? Well graduating is on the top of my priority list, although th amount of work I need to do to graduate is now beginning to overwhelm me. Only 4 weeks left Jonathan, hang in there.

There are many things that need to get done. I need to have a talk with Donna and my mom about all of my uncertainties. They do not help.

The Student Research Conference is tomorrow. I have my poster all done and ready to go. Hopefully, this will be the last thing that I need to get done other than focusing on school work. I hate all of the distractions.

Evolution of Homework

When I last left you Sunday night, I was worried that I would not be able to complete the massive amount of homework I needed to do. I spoke about making a poster for the Student Research Conference, Speciation and Phylogeny homework, making study cards for Toxicology, and lastly, the homework assignment that was due for Pollution Ecology.

Here is what I have done:
- Poster is submitted and I need to pick it up sometime next week for the conference.
- Speciation and Phylogeny homework 7 is complete. I only need to print out the final pages and hand it in. It is of no help though because the new homework is online now.
- I have made study cards for one days worth of lecture in Toxicology, it is still of no help because there are two more days worth of lectures which I need to create cards for.
- The homework for Pollution Ecology is not done, but I did look over it. I need to complete it tomorrow.
- The final for Speciation and Phylogeny is going to go online soon. I want to get an early start on it because it is going to take a long time to complete. Also, I am pretty sure that I will need to use Cladistic and Phenetic methods, and I believe it is best to complete the phenetic methods part while it is still fresh in my mind. Also during finals week I want ti be as free and stressfree as possible.

One thing that is good is my latest test score for Forensic Biology. It was an 87, which is not the best score, but it is one I can live with.

A little aside before I get into my Pokemon Adventures for the day. Gmail Notifier is an awesome program. Before I used to log into Gmail to see if I had an email, but now I just look at the status Icon and see. It is a big time saver. I only wish Facebook had an app that worked that well. I have tried Facebook apps for the mac before, but they don't do what I want them too, or log me out of facebook when I don't want to be logged out.

Pokemon:
This is the part you have probably been waiting for. I have yet to receive the first badge. Instead I am leveling up my Pokemon. I managed to get all of my bug type pokemon to level ten. This includes all the evolutions of caterprie and also all the evolutions of weedle. I am currently in the process of getting my non bug pokemon up to level 15 to make the Gym leader want to cry. At this point I think I need another hour or two to get them to that stage, but I am close. I think Fighting Pokemon are my best bet here, so Mankey will be good to use, but he doesn't know any effective fighting moves yet, so he needs to be leveled up. My current part consists of Squirtle, Pikachu, Rattata, Pidgey, Spearow, and Mankey. When I catch the male Nidoran, I will put him in there too.

Anyway, it is getting late (time to sleep) so I will see you all tomorrow.

A New Beginning?

My Pokemon Save Got Erased!

My Pokemon Save file (.Sav) for Fire Red got erased! Because of this I had to start a new game. Starting a game from scratch will take a long time, so I decided to play the game on my PSP, using the latest gPSP mod. This mod has fast forward to play through the game quickly. So far this is what I have done:

Chosen Squirtle, captured Pidgey, SPearow, Mankey, Rattata, 3 Caterpie (2 evolved into Metapod), 3 Weedle (2 evolved into Kakuna), and a Pikachu. I think that is all the pokemon that are available until this point in the game. I have yet to capture my first badge, will work on it tomorrow, along with a massive amount of Homework I need to do (something for Speciation and Phylogeny, prepare study cards for Toxicology, and do the homework for Pollution Ecology).

Not to mention that I need to work on the poster I am presenting at the student research conference here at UVM. I need to work on that one first since it is due at noon (I think). I am hungry, I haven't eaten much since 5-ish.

Well, I am going to bed. This time, I will not miss my chance at catching a Clefairy, I just wish it would not take me so long to catch that darn male Nidoran.

As for the job with NY Teaching fellows. I will keep you updated on what is going down when I hear the news.

Route 24

Fire Red Update
When I last left, I told you I was going to level up my Mankey, well I did. He is on level 20 now, and my Wortotle is on level 21. I managed to get to Cerulean and Route 24. My rival was in the way, but I used my Pikachu (most awesome pokemon ever, until I catch something better).

I was on Route 24. There were many interesting trainer battles. Mostly Butterfree's Confusion (Psychic type move) came in handy. Many of the pokemon on the road were weak to it. If not Butterfree, then the Flying moves of Pidgey (gust) and Spearow (Peck) were appropriate. I wonder if anyone has made a pokemon guide telling you which pokemon to use for EVERY SINGLE BATTLE. That would be helpful because then you would know beforehand who you should have in your party instead of fainting and going back to the previous pokemon center.

I managed to catch an Abra (I know they teleport). At first it was a bit confusing since the only move it knows (so far) is teleport. They kept leaving when I attacked it once. However I decided to just throw a pokeball to try and catch it. At first I was unsuccessful, but the second Abra I tried it on was caught (YAY!!!).

And I also managed to snag an Oddish. Oddish is a fun little grass poison type pokemon which was easy to catch. Nothing fancy. Apparently, I cannot catch a Bellsprout with Fire Red (need a leaf Green). Well then. I think we all know what game I am going to be playing after Fire Red now don't we?

I also gained the badge from Curulean City. It was difficult being that the only electric type pokemon I had was Pikachu, and I had no grass type pokemon at the time.
So far this brings my total pokemon number to 22. And still counting. I found this awesome site called pokedream. I wonder how many people keep the site going? I hope it is more stable than bulbapedia which is down every 5 seconds (dumb bulbapedia), but at least it has a page which tells you which pokemon types are effective against which. This is something I have not been able to find in pokedream, althrough their walkthrough seems pretty comprehensive (except for the lack of information about what pokemon the trainers in a particular region carry).

Aside from pokemon, my life is going well. I purchased an R4 for my roomate's birthday (really late), but also because he is awesome. In case you watch my youtube videos and were wondering, the election is over, and yes, he won. They will officially be announcing it later next week for Comida Para La Gente. It is an event where people cook and the SGA Club Alianza Latina get together and act cool. My roomate is taking over next year, and although he does not read this, I wish him the best of luck.

Squirtle Evolved into Wartotle!

So my squirtle evolved into wartotle today. I know highly uneventful.
I have reached Cerulean City, and other pokemon in my collection currently include, Cateprie, Metapod, Butterfree, Weedle, Kakuna, Beedril, Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow, Ekans, Pikachu, Nidoran Male, Nidoran Female, Jugglypuff, Zubat, Paras, and Mankey. I do not know which of these evolve or not.
Overall I have caught just about every pokemon I was supposed to until this point, except for the elusive Clefairy. I missed my chance in Mt. Moon to catch her (again, playing Fire Red), however I think when I get fly, I will be revisiting the Mt. Moon area. The question is, who am I going to use my new Shiny moonstone on?
Hm????

One more thing, probably trivial, and non important, but I noticed Mankey's Karate Chop is quite effective against the rampant rattata's. I am thinking about leveling him up significantly, since it seems my wartotle is getting all the attention (is at the highest level in my group)
